Good overview. I recently reviewed V7 on my blog and it's much improved from previous versions. The biggest downside I thought was the absence of an integrated blog. You can add an RSS widget that links to an outside blog, but you can't integrate a blog into the site.

Great tips. I've used an app called "Business Messenger" that's really helped me be more productive. bzm.gr. It adds text to my desktop office number, and I can send texts from my phone, computer or tablet. Seems to be more efficient with my clients and it's free. Check out in app store or bit.ly/1qVQWYq.

I've been looking at domain registrars for exactly the same reasons as Todd. I want to move to Squarespace, but have a domain and hosting with another photo building website.

Eventually I opted for Squarespace not only because it offered a way to include a second language. I get (almost) everything from one source, updates, hosting and SEO included, a great and fast email-support, a great knowledge base including explanatory videos and not to mention the beautiful templates.

As for gated community membership sites, I haven't seen anything done very well with website builders. There is a service provider called Sentry Login that works with Weebly. It just might work with Squarespace as well. But if you want a very sophisticated set up, I know WordPress can manage active membership sites, including helping you manage your membership billing cycles. Perhaps you can run your premium membership site on WordPress, while your main website on Squarespace.
