It saddens me to realize time and again that education is always so under the microscope for potential irresponsible, "non-research based" spending.     Each photographer should have their Terms of Use on the site where you found their work. Usually you will get all your questions answered there. If you are in doubt and need permission for a particular use, just email the photographer and request clarification. They will let you know whether it's okay or not. Never "assume" you can do something С each photographer has their own licensing terms.
